I’m John Carnes. I help people think through decisions, navigate change, and take meaningful action toward goals they define for themselves. You may be considering a career transition, working through a leadership challenge, or asking what you want from the next chapter of your life.

A Relationship Built Around Your Goals I enjoy working with people who are willing to look honestly at their situation and ready to take action. You don’t need every answer before we begin. Our conversations bring together reflection, perspective, practical steps, and accountability. For ongoing coaching, we take time to understand your goals and whether working together makes sense for both of us.

After three decades in medical devices, healthcare, and leadership, I’m choosing to spend this chapter sharing what I’ve learned and contributing to the lives of others. I see this as an opportunity to be a good steward of my time and experience: listening carefully, offering useful perspective, and helping people make their own informed choices.
Making Mentorship More Accessible I believe access to useful mentorship should not be limited by what someone can afford. I’m developing a donation-based portion of my practice alongside paid, ongoing coaching. This part of SPRKcoaching will continue to take shape as I learn where I can be most useful and what I can thoughtfully sustain. If cost is a barrier, you’re welcome to raise that when you get in touch.

Career transition support: Get focused help with your résumé, cover letters, and interview preparation. We’ll work on communicating your experience clearly and preparing for your next opportunity. Executive and leadership coaching: Think through the decisions, relationships, and responsibilities that come with leading. Develop greater self-awareness and a deliberate approach to how you lead and work with others.
